The 5 Best Bacon Cocktails

By

Bacon makes anything better—and we mean anything. Beyond the basic BLTs and BECs, we decorate our homes with bacon-scented candles, shower with bacon soap and even clothe ourselves in bacon underwear. So it should come as no surprise that we’ve also found a way to infuse that meaty magic into our coupes. Here, the best drinks made with the best ingredient of all time.

The Bacon, Egg & Cheese is one of the great wonders of the breakfast world, right up there with fat stacks of pancakes and bottomless Mimosas. We cross-pollinated the classic breakfast sandwich with a Whiskey Sour and wound up with a frothy, citrusy, buttery glass of morning-boozing joy, made with savory bacon-infused bourbon.

Elvis’ “Hunk of Burning Love” Cocktail

Elvis was not only a rock 'n’ roll genius, but also a snack master. The infamous hound dog liked to combine bacon with bananas and peanut butter for the ultimate indulgent sandwich. We followed his lead (we’d follow him anywhere), and created a tiki cocktail fit for the King—complete with flaming banana boat garnish and bacon-peanut-butter rim.

A garnish of skewered candied bacon dips its toes into this brunch take on the tiki classic, the Jungle Bird. Beyond adding savory depth to dark, molasses-heavy rum and bittersweet rhubarb amaro, the garnish qualifies the drink for pre-noon consumption. It’s best sipped during a mid-morning tanning sesh on a tropical beach.

Bacon Vodka

Fat-washing vodka can be challenging, as you try not to gag while skimming off the congealed frozen fat. But you can console yourself with snacks of crispy bacon throughout the process, and the end result is beyond worth it. The finished spirit is infused with a silky, bacony texture and savory, salty depth. It opens up a world of meaty mixing possibilities.

Sautéing the bacon with onions, brown sugar, vinegar and a few ounces of tequila makes a spiked topping fit for any brunch pastry—take that, avocado toast. You could also mix a spoonful directly into your Bloody Maria for an umami-packed, brunch-time masterpiece.

The Essentials

bacon
Ancho Reyes Verde
Tequila
