How to Make a Halloween Punchkin


If you’re throwing a spooky Halloween bash, forget that vintage glass punch bowl. Instead, make one less jack-o’-lantern and turn a pumpkin into a punch bowl—or, as we like to call it, a Halloween Punchkin.

All you need to make your own pumpkin punch bowl is a sharp carving knife and a spoon to scoop out the guts. To carve the pumpkin bowl, first, remove the stem by slicing it out with a knife. Then, create a wide, bowl-like opening by carefully cutting through the rind. Now, it’s time to start digging. Use the knife to cut pieces loose and spoon out all of the guts and seeds. You want the final product to be smooth and entirely string- and seed-free. Keep the seeds for roasting and reserve innards for pumpkin purée, if desired.

Now that the pumpkin is clean, you’re ready to fill it with punch. While you can fill your Punchkin with your choice of big batch cocktail, we created one perfect for Halloween.
