If you've ever asked your Lyft driver to stop for fast food on the way home from the bar and been given nothing but a three-star rating in return, that's all about to change. Lyft and Taco Bell are teaming up to give riders late-night snacks on demand.
The ride sharing app is testing out a “Taco Mode” button, which will summon a dedicated car that will take you to the nearest Taco Bell. You order your food through a custom menu on an in-car iPad, and complete a “ride-thru.” Then you continue on to your destination, chalupa in hand.
The Taco Mode cars will also be themed, and offer free Taco Bell swag and a Doritos Locos Taco to riders.
The app will begin testing the service this weekend in Orange County, California, for customers within the radius of a specific Taco Bell in Newport Beach. They will expand to other parts of California this year, and other areas of the country next year.
