Malibu Rum Now Makes Canned Piña Coladas

Malibu rum is now making canned Piña Coladas, because sometimes you’re caught in the rain without the necessary ingredients to whip one up yourself. That, and because if there’s one thing we all wish we could take with us everywhere we go, it’s the taste of tropical cocktails.

The 250-milliliter can is made with Malibu’s Caribbean rum, juices and other flavorings. It clocks in at 5 percent alcohol—just the right amount for all-day sipping by the pool or ocean. It’ll have you feeling as smooth as soft rock classics and more tropical than Disney’s Tiki Room. The only downside: The cans are currently only available in the U.K.

In the U.S., Malibu offers canned sparkling Malibu Pineapple, Malibu Cola, Malibu Pear and non-sparkling Malibu Strawberry Kiwi. There are also handle-sized plastic bags of Malibu Piña Colada (and the other flavors), meaning you can play slap the bag, cocktail edition (or just pour it into a plastic cup). Alas, there are no canned Piña Coladas just yet.

Before you entirely give up on canned Malibu Piña Coladas, though, take some things into consideration: People demanded Mayochup for some reason, and the demands brought the product over. Alcohol-filled Unicorn Tears, Mermaid Tears and Phoenix Tears were once only available in the U.K., but the reasonable people harvesting from mythical creatures saw a market in the U.S. and are now bringing them stateside. What we’re trying to say is there’s a chance. Now go grab a 1.75 liter bag of Malibu Piña Colada to tide you over until then.
