First, Jimmy Buffett came for our restaurants with his chain of Margaritavilles. Then he came for our retirees with a Margaritaville retirement home, then Broadway with Escape to Margaritaville, and then Times Square with a Margaritaville resort. Now he’s coming for our lakes. Two new Margaritaville booze cruise lines started up this summer, because the U.S. is becoming one giant ode to Buffett’s Margaritaville lifestyle.
The cruises are run by Margaritaville Lanier Islands in Georgia, which describes itself as “a waterfront paradise on Lake Lanier.” The inaugural Margarita cruise is on May 5th and will run through October. Not one, but two Margaritaville boats will depart every weekend, each promising a “luxury enclosed cabin,” indoor seating, an upper outdoor deck with seating and a premium sound system. Plus Margaritas, of course. And if you’re wondering, yes the cruises do depart at 5 p.m.
