Easy Horchata Fix

As the name of this cocktail implies, this is a delectably easy way to boozify horchata. Just whip up a batch of the Mexican rice drink (or buy it, if you must) and pour in your favorite tequila (we love the deeply funky Riazul Añejo tequila from Jalisco). With a twist of the bar spoon and a dash of cinnamon on top, you’ll have yourself a refreshing, tequila-heavy treat. If only chiles rellenos were so easy.

Ingredients

1.5 oz Tequila
Crushed ice or pebble ice
Supercall’s House Horchata

Method

  • Add tequila to a Collins glass.
  • Fill the glass halfway with crushed ice.
  • Top with horchata.
  • Use a swizzle stick to incorporate ingredients.
  • Add more crushed ice and garnish with freshly grated cinnamon.

Ingredients

1 Cup white rice
1 Cup brown rice
1 1- to 3-inch Cinnamon Sticks
6 cups water
0.5 Cup agave nectar

Method

  • Toast the rice and cinnamon in a frying pan with a pinch of salt. Remove from heat and reserve.
  • Add all ingredients to a blender and blend on high speed until rice is pulverized.
  • Let the mixture rest overnight in the fridge.
  • Strain the mixture through a nut milk bag or a cheesecloth-lined colander into a pitcher. Refrigerate until serving.
  • Horchata will separate, stir before serving.
