Dead Frenchmen

This dark twist on the Brandy Alexander takes Halloween cocktails to another level. With its ghostly pale purple hue, it’s not just hypnotic to look at—it’s also spookily delicious. Created by New Orleans bartender Matt Lofink (of James Beard-nominated Cure), the Dead Frenchmen combines aged white rum with violet liqueur, white crème de cacao and heavy cream. Decadent and boozy, with a bright floral undercurrent, this cocktail tastes like bananas and violet candies covered in white chocolate. A topper of freshly grated nutmeg gives it a beautiful, bright orange pop that’s perfect for the spectral holiday—but you might find that after having one, you’re strangely drawn to another and another, long after All Hallows’ Eve has ended.
