There are many ways to spike hot chocolate, but this is one of our favorites. Inspired by the French tradition of sipping green chartreuse-laden hot chocolate after a day on the Alpine slopes, it includes both the herbaceous liqueur and a hit of peppermint schnapps for a deliciously minty kick. After a day of skiing (or working, or shoveling snow, or doing pretty much anything), you’ll want nothing more than a mugful of this indulgent drink.
0.75 oz Peppermint Schnapps
0.75 oz Green Chartreuse
6 oz Whole Milk
2 tbsp Hot Chocolate
Marshmallow, for garnish
Candy Cane, for garnish
- Add the chocolate powder and milk to a saucepan over medium heat.
- Bring to a simmer and stir until the powder has dissolved.
- Add the chartreuse and peppermint schnapps to a coffee mug, and top with hot chocolate. Stir with a bar spoon to incorporate, and garnish with a marshmallow and a candy cane.
