Everyone is obsessed with rosé. Delivery services are hawking it and bartenders are mixing it into Sangria. People are frosting doughnuts with rosé icing and one company even put it in a 40-ounce bottle for summer stoop sipping. But if you still can’t get enough of everyone’s favorite pink drink, we’re here to announce that your new summer obsession has landed: rosé tequila.
Codigo 1530 has been making the agave spirit for generations, but they just recently put it on the market for the rest of us to enjoy. They offer the usual blanco, reposado and añejo varieties, but they also introduced a light pink liquid that has us swooning. Codigo makes its Rosa tequila ($65) by letting their blanco expression rest in French white oak barrels that previously held California cabernet. The tequila sits in the barrel just long enough to take on the round, floral notes of the wine, a subtle oak nose and a beautiful blush hue. It’s a perfectly smooth, appropriately colored, easy summer sipper.
